The Sessoms Group Inc. was formed in the year 1978 to present entertainment for adults interested in fun activities and wonderful concerts including the first NYC Jazz Festival on Randall’s Island, keeping in mind age is nothing but a number. From Party Promoters to Club Promoters, to Concert Promoters, we are well versed in event planning.
Our first weekend getaway was in The Pocono Mountains. We negotiated for and secured Fernwood Resort for us and our then partners and provided people to work the event. After being concerned about attendance numbers, we called good friends Chris Curry (Queens NY), Joe Waterman (Staten Island), The Bartlett Brothers (Queens NY) and other promoter friends of ours who came on multiple buses as we honored our friend Ann Tripp, of WBLS radio in NYC. The deal was the staffing and leg work would be us, and the data and graphics would be our ex-partners. Worked fine, especially since some of us were personally data and computer challenged (smile).
That was the start as we outgrew Fernwood and The Sessoms Group had to secure The Bushkill Inn which was too small, and The Hershey Lodge, which was great and then after meeting with the Pocono Vacation Bureau was able to secure Kalahari Resorts and Conventions. What a run we had!! Well, we are back as we were. Special welcome home to Chris Curry, Michael (don’t call me Mike) Stern, Terry Pickering, and Geraldine Johnson. Each brings a special talent as does the many others who will continue to be part of The Sessoms Group Inc. including many of the faces you will be familiar with. So happy to be reunited with everyone!
